Faculty of Education | Student Forum for the new Southern Cross Model
Join us for the second Student Forum in 2021 where we will brief you on the new Southern Cross Model and delve deeper into the new course progressions.

What is the new Southern Cross Model?
Southern Cross University is currently rolling out a new innovative model which provides guided and active learning experiences focused on supporting student success. The new model divides the academic calendar year into six study terms of six teaching weeks each.

This allows students to study subjects in six-week blocks, where you have the option to complete one or two units per term. A full-time study load is a minimum of six units and a maximum of 12 units per year, so you can take a term off when you need to, or do more study when you have the time.

Immersing in one or two subjects at once means you can enjoy deeper learning, with greater focus, and fewer competing demands on your time. Assessments are more evenly spaced out during the year, giving you a greater chance of success in your studies. You determine the pace of your studies, with greater flexibility in balancing life and work commitments.
